Police, Search and Rescue (SAR) teams, and members of the Golden Bay and Kiaora communities are continuing their efforts to locate Natalie Browning, an 80-year-old woman who was reported missing after leaving her home in Pohara, Golden Bay. Although extensive search operations have now concluded, authorities are still appealing to the public for any information that could help determine her whereabouts.
Natalie was last seen leaving her residence on foot at approximately 8:30 a.m. She was wearing a woollen hooded jersey and black sneakers at the time of her disappearance. Police remain concerned for her welfare, particularly because of the wet and windy conditions present when she went missing.
Following her disappearance, an extensive search involving New Zealand Police, Search and Rescue teams, and numerous volunteers was launched across land and water. Community members came together in remarkable numbers, dedicating countless hours to the search and demonstrating extraordinary compassion and support for Natalie’s family.
In a message shared with the public, her family expressed their sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in the search.
“We are overwhelmed with the huge support in the search for Natalie Browning (Mum), who has not been found. The police, SAR, and community have been incredible. All land and water search options have now been completed. Over the next days, shorelines will only be monitored. We can’t thank this community enough for their love, support, and efforts this week.”
While the active land and water searches have been completed, shoreline monitoring will continue over the coming days as authorities pursue every possible avenue. Police remain hopeful that new information from the public could assist the ongoing investigation.
Anyone who has seen Natalie Browning or has information that could help locate her is urged to contact Police immediately by calling 111 and quoting event number P066917433. Even the smallest detail could prove crucial in helping investigators.
As the search continues, the Golden Bay and Kiaora communities remain united in hope, keeping Natalie and her family in their thoughts while supporting ongoing efforts to bring her home.
