Karen D. Bowman, of Chester, Illinois, will be lovingly remembered by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her as a compassionate woman whose life was centered on faith, family, and the simple joys that brought people together. Karen passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 52, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and cherished memories.
Born on August 24, 1971, in Chester, Illinois, Karen was the daughter of the late Darell and Lola (Blair) Seibold Sr. Throughout her life, she remained deeply connected to her family and community, building lasting relationships with those who knew her best. Her warmth, generous spirit, and caring heart made her a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Karen married Bobby Bowman on September 30, 2023, beginning a new chapter filled with love and companionship. She was also a devoted mother to her children, Justin Stehl and Alyssa Stehl, who were among the greatest sources of pride and joy in her life. Her family remained at the center of everything she did, and the memories they shared together will forever be treasured.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Bowman; her children, Justin (Brooke) Stehl of Carbondale and Alyssa Stehl of Chester; her aunt, Debbie (Ron) Jones of Blue Eye, Missouri; and her eight siblings: Lisa (David) Tindall, Sarah (Brian) Beam, Shelly Gonzalez, Rebecca (Daniel) Hahn, Daniel Seibold, Christopher (Denise) Seibold, Darell (Dawn) Seibold Jr., and Shawn (Mike) DeRousse. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends, including Kristy Petelle. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Julie Seibold.
Karen worked as a housekeeper at The Manor at Craig Farms in Chester, where she was appreciated for her dedication and caring nature. She attended First Baptist Church in Ellis Grove, where her faith provided guidance and strength throughout her life.
Outside of work, Karen found happiness in spending time outdoors. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting, while trips to the beach and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals created many joyful memories with family and friends. Her adventurous spirit and love for life’s simple pleasures made every gathering more meaningful.
In accordance with her wishes, Karen was cremated. A visitation was held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Ellis Grove, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Dan Ahlenius.
In honor of Karen’s memory, memorial donations may be made to her husband, Bobby Bowman, to establish a college fund for her daughter, Alyssa Stehl, with contributions accepted through Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester.
Though Karen D. Bowman’s life ended too soon, her love for her family, steadfast faith, and compassionate heart will continue to inspire those who knew her. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and lovingly cherished by all whose lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.
