Donerell M. Lykes, 36, of Columbia, South Carolina, died following a three-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer in the Swansea area of Lexington County. Family and friends are mourning his tragic passing.

Lykes, whose life was tragically cut short following a three-vehicle collision in the Swansea area on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. At 36 years old, Donerell’s sudden passing has left family members, friends, and loved ones grieving the loss of a man whose memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
According to officials, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 6:50 a.m. at the intersection of W.E. Jeffcoat Road and Highway 6 in Lexington County. Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher reported that Donerell was traveling northbound on W.E. Jeffcoat Road when his vehicle entered the intersection and was struck by an eastbound tractor-trailer traveling on Highway 6.
Authorities stated that the impact caused Donerell to be ejected from his vehicle, after which he was struck by another vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 6. Officials also reported that the driver of that third vehicle left the scene before emergency responders arrived.
Emergency personnel responded promptly, but despite their efforts, Donerell succumbed to the injuries he sustained and was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol’s Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) in conjunction with the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.
